Burnt Mill awarded for exam progress
Posted: 11th April 2016Burnt Mill Academy has been commended for progressing students from primary standard.
The Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT) judged the First Avenue school to be in the top 10 per cent nationally for improving grades of youngsters Year 6 exams to those taken in Year 9.
Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT, said: "It is my great pleasure to commend Burnt Mill Academy on their excellent 2015 performance.
"I have the privilege of visiting a lot of schools and I am always impressed by the creativity of teacher in engaging and inspiring their students."
SSAT will present the award to Burnt Mill at a regional celebration event to draw attention to the work of high-achieving, improving and innovating schools and teachers.
Ms Williamson continued: "I will have opportunity to highlight and share their great work at the SSAT Educational Outcomes celebration evening.
"I hope that SSAT's Educational Outcomes aware will highlight the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students of Burnt Mill Academy.
