Burnt Mill at Harlow Open 17
Posted: 24th January 2017Thursday 19th January saw the opening of ‘Harlow Open 17’ a unique event featuring artwork from the local community involving students from Roydon Primary School and Burnt Mill Academy.
Harlow Open is an exhibition which invites artists who live or have lived, work or study within Harlow to submit work for display.
It was organised by the Young Curators programme at the Gibberd Gallery which saw Burnt Mill's Young Curators – Zoe Endean, Elloise Robertson-Gray and Elisabeth Barnard attending weeks of meeting and workshops in preparation for the gallery event. They worked with the Gallery team, students from across Harlow and various artists to curate their very first exhibition. The Young Curators helped organise the private view and represented Burnt Mill Academy and ADT on the night.
For the duration of this exhibition - students from Roydon Primary are showcasing a selection of Art work including expressive pastel pieces, observational drawing and mixed media work. Students from Burnt Mill Academy are showcasing KS4 Art and Photography from a variety of disciplines such as Print, Paint, Sculpture and Mixed Media work where a Burnt Mill student has also received a Commendation for a piece of GCSE work.
