Student leaders take charge of behaviour
Posted: 15th March 2019Young leaders are inspiring their peers to be on their very best behaviour at school.
Members of the Student Senior Leadership Team (SSLT) at Burnt Mill Academy are taking responsibility for ensuring classmates demonstrate good behaviour at all times and have perfect attendance.
Dan Bolt, assistant headteacher in charge of Key Stage 3, said: “Members of our SSLT have come up with a range of excellent ideas to support good behaviour and attendance.”
A new scheme has been launched to give Year 7 and 8 students incentives to do their best, with the ultimate reward of a trip to Disneyland Paris planned for Easter.
Students showing the most progress with regards to attendance are being awarded bronze, silver and gold badges and pizza parties are being held for those doing their best.
SSLT member Millie Davis, Year 8, said: “Students can collect signatures from their teachers for good progress and they can be swapped for free chips on a Friday or skipping the lunch queue. We have organised a trip to Disneyland and people have to earn their place on the trip.
“We just want to inspire people to work that bit harder.
“It feels amazing that our ideas are going forward in this way.”
