School staff donate food to those in need

Posted: 14th December 2020

Teachers and school colleagues have spent the month donating food to those in need.

Staff at Burnt Mill Academy have been making donations to Harlow Foodbank since the start of the month.

They have been responding to the organisation’s critical foods list and providing whatever they can to vulnerable members of the community.

Amy Sadler, second in English, said: “I have been so overwhelmed by the amount of donations that I have had to make several drop-offs to the food bank, dropping off four huge boxes of food, as well as a number of bags full.

“The food bank launches an appeal this time every year as it is so important, especially given the current situation, that all families have enough food to enjoy their Christmas together. We felt, as a part of this community, that we should do our part to help.

“Burnt Mill Academy is an important part of the Harlow community and we therefore felt it vital that we support the local food bank as they work tirelessly to ensure no family goes hungry at Christmas.

“The donations made by staff have been gratefully received and will go a long way in helping those who need it at this time of year.”
