GCSE Results
Posted: 12th August 2021Learning was “continuous and uncompromised” for students as they completed their studies.
Year 11 students received their long-awaited GCSE results today – with a high percentage of students securing a strong pass in English and maths.
Students in Year 10 also collected GCSE results in two or more subjects, taking them a year early.
For the second year running, the traditional external exams were cancelled, and students were graded instead on a combination of in-school assessments, work already completed and coursework.
Despite the challenges of lockdown and remote learning, proud headteacher Laura McGlashan said students adapted quickly to overcome adversity to succeed.
She said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements. They truly do deserve the results which they have achieved.
“We were impressed with our students’ resilience and commitment to their studies, despite the many challenges and uncertainty they have faced this year. They adapted quickly to new ways of working to ensure their learning was continuous and uncompromised, and we want to thank all the teachers for their dedication and hard work in supporting them.
“Our teachers delivered their lessons online to ensure our students were not disadvantaged by these extraordinary circumstances beyond our control, and the results are a real testament to the high expectations everyone has at Burnt Mill Academy.
“We wish all our students the very best for their future endeavours.”
