Lord Mayor's Show
Posted: 12th November 2024On Saturday, 9th November, the Burnt Mill Academy Combined Cadets Force took part in the Lord Mayor’s Show in London.
The annual show dates back to the 13th century and marks the first official engagement of a new Lord Mayor of London.
The Lord Mayor serves as the elected head of the City of London Corporation and their term lasts one year.
Alistair King, a 56-year-old financier and asset manager from Cambridge, is the 696th Lord Mayor of London.
The procession included many of the Livery companies of London.
Burnt Mill Academy is proud to be affiliated with The Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights which is one of the 110 Livery Companies of the City of London.
The Wheelwrights’ invited our cadets to be part of their procession and I am proud to say that the students were exemplary and had a wonderful time.
The Wheelwrights’ support our school by donating funds to the library for new books and sponsor our special Awards at the end of each term for pupils have exceled in STEM subjects.
