Burnt Mill v Forest Hall - Cricket July 2016
Posted: 7th July 2016
On Wednesday 06th July Burnt Mill Cricket Team headed over to Stansted Mountfitchet to play Forest Hall School.
Burnt Mill bowled and fielded really well to bowl Forest Hall out for 42 runs. All 7 bowlers (Matt Hart, Matilda Prince, Louie Ireland, Harvey Lucas, Michael Galvin, Hansel Dave & Connor Teale) took at least 1 wicket each with Matt (2 for 4 runs) & Connor (2 for 6 runs claiming 2 wickets each).
The catching backed up the accurate bowling with Hansel, Connor (2), Rajan Sudra, Harvey & Matt (2) taking impressive catches in the field.
With 43 runs needed to win, Casey Mansfield was out early, playing across the line but Louie joined Rajan for a good little partnership before Rajan was caught out. Matt and Louie put on a crucial 24 run partnership with some excellent communication & running between the wickets and after Louie was bowled, Hansel joined Matt in the middle to see Burnt Mill home, winning by 7 wickets with 7 overs to spare.
For many students on both sides, it was their first taste of an organised cricket game which they appeared to really enjoy. Sportingly both teams shook hands at the end and posed for team photos. Add in a beautiful Summer’s day at Forest Hall’s picturesque playing field; it was a lovely sporting occasion between the two schools.
