Barcelona Trip
Posted: 9th April 2018A trip to Spain gave young students an opportunity to try out their language.
Year 8 students at Burnt Mill Academy took the three-night trip to Barcelona as part of their modern foreign language studies.
The 39 students visited Camp Neu stadium, the Sagrada Familia cathedral, Parc Guell, open air architectural museum Poble Espanyol and played football on the beach.
Teacher Guylaine Ganzhorn said: “This was an opportunity for students to practise their Spanish. It was also good for them to sample the culture and have a new life experience.
“It was a learning curve for them to be away from their parents for so long and encouraged their independence.
“I was very impressed at them all having a go at speaking Spanish and ordering their own food. As a result of the trip, they are a lot more focused in lessons. In terms of motivation, it has had a big impact.”
