Renowned Classical Musician Performs for Students

Mary-Jess, winner of Chinese X-Factor, and renowned Classical singer, wowed the students with her amazing voice and inspiring story.

Students listened intently to Mary Jess’ story of hard work and determination as she narrated her journey from a 13 year old teenager with a dream to becoming a world famous singer.

The singer told the students that she followed two pieces of advice to help her to get to where she is now which was, ‘to have more than one string to her bow, and to make the most of every opportunity’.

Mary Jess’ fascinating talk was combined with a series of songs performed both in English and Chinese.

The students were enthralled by the performance and inspired by both her determination and the power and beauty of her voice. Students stated, “I have never heard music like that before, it brought a tear to my eye’, and ‘that music has unlocked a whole world for me!’

Mary Jess’ achievements including winning the Chinese X-Factor, performing live at the FA cup, singing the theme tune to Downton Abbey and being selected by the Government to be the representative of the GREAT Britain Campaign representing UK music in 144 countries around the world.
